교수 소개

조승아 교수는 현재 서울대학교 경영대학에서 경영전략, 국제경영, 그리고 협상전략을 강의하고 있으며 Managerial Cognition, Corporate Governance, Strategic Decision-Making, Negotiation 등의 경영전략분야에서 연구를 하고 있다. 서울대학교 국제협력본부 부본부장, 한국 전략경영학회 부회장, 한인경영학자협회 회장, 한국전략경영학회 부회장, 하버드대학 총동문회 (Harvard Alumni Association) 이사, 서울대학교 중국 사무소 소장, 대한민국 국방부 자문교수, 그리고 서울대학교 경영대학 국제교류 위원장 을 역임했으며 미국Rutgers University 대학에서 조교수 및 (tenured)부교수로 재직하였다. 미국 하버드 대학에서 경제학 학사, 그리고 컬럼비아 경영대학에서 석사 및 박사학위를 받았다.

Theresa Cho is Professor of Strategic Management and International Business at Seoul National University Business School. She has also served as the Deputy Vice President of International Affairs at Seoul National University, as well as the President of Association of Korean Management Scholars, Representative-at-Large for Strategic Management Society, and Vice President of Korean Strategic Management Society. Since 2018, she also serves as the Harvard Alumni Association Director for International Clubs, overseeing alumni organizations in the Asia-Pacific region.

Before joining SNU in 2007, Professor Cho was Associate Professor (with tenure) at Rutgers Business School, Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey. She received an A. B.(with honors) in Economics from Harvard College, Harvard University, and received her M.Phil. and Ph.D. (with distinction) in Strategic Management from Columbia Business School, Columbia University.

Professor Cho’s current research interests focus on strategic leadership, with a particular emphasis on the effects of managerial cognition and corporate governance on organizational processes. She has published extensively on several topics including: the role of managerial cognition in strategic response to the financial crisis, the linkage between top management team attributes and the firm’s behavior in the interfirm competition, executives’ attributes and alliance formation of venture startups in high-tech industries, the impact of environmental shift on managerial incentive system, and the effects of competitor dynamics on market and resource heterogeneity.

Professor Cho’s research has been published in several top-tier scholarly journals, including Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Research in Organizational Behavior, and Journal of Business Research. Her study on strategic leadership and organizational adaptation was selected as the finalist for the William Newman Award by the Academy of Management. In addition, her dissertation based on airline industry deregulation was chosen by faculty for the With Distinction honor, given only to the top 1% of the graduating doctoral candidates at Columbia University each year. She was the recipient of the Thomas H. Mott Award for Teaching Excellence, Rutgers Business School in 2004, and General Electric Teaching Fellowship in 2001.
